Global Effort Needed to Defend Earth from Asteroids

Hiper-financiamento do complexo militar e militarização do espaço.
O Grande Hoax.
Penúltimo capitulo.

"The next enemy was asteroids.
Now, at this point he kind of chuckled the first time he said it.
Asteroids- against asteroids we are going to build space-based weapons."

"The strategy that Wernher Von Braun taught me was that first the Russians are going to be considered to be the enemy. In fact, in 1974, they were the enemy, the identified enemy.

Then terrorists would be identified, and that was soon to follow. Then we were going to identify third-world country “crazies.” We now call them Nations of Concern. But he said that would be the third enemy against whom we would build space-based weapons.

The next enemy was asteroids. Now, at this point he kind of chuckled the first time he said it. Asteroids- against asteroids we are going to build space-based weapons.

And the funniest one of all was what he called aliens, extraterrestrials. That would be the final scare. And over and over and over during the four years that I knew him and was giving speeches for him, he would bring up that last card. “And remember Carol, the last card is the alien card. We are going to have to build space-based weapons against aliens and all of it is a lie.”

Facto: Termina a guerra fria e a correspondente ameaça Soviética.

Facto: 9/11 e restantes atentados "terroristas" que se seguiram.

Facto: Guerras e tentativas de guerra com o Iraque, o Afeganistão, a Libia, o Irão, a Coreia do Norte, a Syria, por ai fora...

Facto: "asteroid-threat-earth-united-nations-response"

"Members of the United Nations met with distinguished astronauts and cosmonauts this week in New York to begin implementing the first-ever international contingency plan for defending Earth against catastrophic asteroid strikes.

Six of the space travelers involved in these U.N. discussions spoke about the asteroid defense effort Friday (Oct. 25 2013) in a news conference hosted by astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson at the American Museum of Natural History. Their goal: to drive home the very-real threats posed by near-Earth objects (NEOs), or asteroids traveling within the radius of Earth's orbit with the sun, and to delineate five steps that international policy makers should take to prepare for NEO impacts. You can see a video of the asteroid defense discussion here.

Scientists estimate that there are roughly 1 million near-Earth asteroids that could potentially pose a threat to the planet, but only a small fraction of these have actually been detected by telescopes. There are about 100 times more asteroids lurking in space than have ever been located, said Edward Lu, a former NASA astronaut and co-founder of the non-profit B612 Foundation advocating asteroid defense strategies. "Our challenge is to find these asteroids first, before they find us," Lu said.

Não me admirava nada...
